My Creative Space
Donald Rattner builds the book around forty-eight science-based techniques for designing a space. It is organized in three parts:
- Space, time and creativity
- Ambience
- Action
Each technique follows the same three steps: what to do, how to do it, and why it works. Why the color blue in your home improves creativity, why making noise can help you generate novel ideas, why taking a shower or a bath in the middle of the day might be useful.
I love the science-based explanations. It is where design psychology meets interior design, and it makes every technique legit.
Because the structure repeats, I can open the book at any chapter rather than read it end to end. I have no organizational problem to solve and I still pick one at random, for the ideas.
